As has been the case with a number of our townhouse projects, our clients moved back into town after that their kids left fore college. They could walk to work and take advantage of all that living in the South End of Boston has to offer.

This house was built in about 1895, and had been renovated about ten years ago, but it still needed a considerable amount of work. We redesigned the kitchen, added a self sufficient guest suite, kitchenette and den on the ground floor, continued the stair up to a new roof deck, upgraded the HVAC systems, added an office on the 4th floor, and—other than a few heirlooms that were brought from their previous residence—redecorated the house top to bottom.

The design of the the new stair to the roof deck replicates in detail the existing Victorian stair. The ground floor suite and top floor office are the result of reorganizing inefficient space. The design of the well-used kitchen allows the Victorian plasterwork details to remain in place.
